June 10th of each year is Intentional Day of Kindness

Kindness day was started as a way to honor Drake Durkee and his unwavering ability to share warmth and kindness to others. Every year we encourage people to show compassion to others, perform intentional acts of good-will, and spread the mission of The Drake Durkee Foundation

Now, more than ever, we need to seek out ways we can be safe and be kind. Below are some examples of socially-distant kindness activities to inspire and encourage you to be kind!

  • Write an encouraging note with sidewalk chalk outside to brighten the day of people who see it.

  • Donate any extra canned food to a food bank.

  • Thank your teacher for their support

  • Pay for someone’s order at a drive through or grocery store

  • Pick up trash around your neighborhood or a nearby park.

  • Smile at a stranger.

share kindness yourself!

We are making a change to our Kindness Cards!  June 10 will always be our official “Kindness Day”, but we also realize that acts of kindness should happen every day!!  Sometimes these acts are planned and sometimes they are spur of the moment opportunities that present themselves. The Drake Durkee Foundation wants to encourage everyone to act when they feel inspired and spread kindness throughout the year!  Whether big or small, every act of kindness makes a difference!

Simply cut down the dotted line and fold in half to have your own kindness cards to share kidness every day!
